Eclipse Seasons

Estimated eclipse durations in 2008 (May 8 -- Aug 3)

2008 May 8 -- Aug 3

The Hinode eclipse is expected from May 8 to August 3 in 2008. Maximum duration of the eclipse will be about 20 min in 98-min-orbit of Hinode.
The calculation is based on Hinode orbital elements and their derivatives. Atmospheric refraction effect is not taken into account because data would be degraded if the Sun is observed through the atmosphere. The Sun is treated as a point light source and its angular size is not considered in the calculation. The eclipse durations were calculated by Dr. Soma at NAOJ.
